The Amazon is the ecosystem with the most biodiversity on our planet. A good part of this mysterious jungle is still unknown and is accessible only by navigating the mighty Amazon River. For these reasons it is not difficult to imagine that a trip to the Amazon is a dream for many travelers. We have been fortunate to spend two weeks in this spectacular environment that has no equals. The animals, the plants, the flooded villages are among our best memories, those memories that are unforgettable. Imagine that it is very hot, but the breeze from the Amazon River blows and you are in a boat sailing through the Amazon River. It is the rainy season and most of the Amazon rainforest is flooded.

You continue navigating in the area of the city of Santarém and a very friendly place with funny looks greets you.

From a distance you can see one of the many islands that are in the Amazon River.

What do you see there in the middle of a square meter of grass? Wow! It is a pig from a farm that is on the only piece of land that is not yet submerged by water.

We change boat and ride in a wooden canoe from which we occasionally have to draw water so that we do not flood. We enter the dense Amazon rainforest: given the water level we are quite close to the top of the trees and this allows us to see the animals much better and closer. However, we also have to be careful and move the branches of the trees that we find along the way.

We continue and find another of the animals of the Amazon, a lazy that moves slowly from tree to tree.

A suspicious noise on the top of a tree captures our attention, it is a capuchin monkey that is jumping from branch to branch. He stops, looks at us and then goes on his way.

We continue sailing in the flooded forest and we reach a lake that leaves us speechless.

In a little corner of this lake there is a small house, surely some locals live, we try to see to catch something of their day to day but nobody appears.

What does appear is a tree full of birds that have decided to establish their home there.

We decided to get off the boat in a part of the jungle that is not flooded to stretch our legs a little and relax a little the arms of so much paddling and draw water from the canoe and we found a great landscape and huge trees.

We return to our canoe and start paddling again, we notice an iguana that sunbathes and looks at us with reluctance,

We continue sailing to return to the dense jungle but before we realize one of the most beautiful plants in the Amazon that we have not seen before, it is a wonderful, huge aquatic lily.

We leave our canoe and return to the motor boat to return to the city of Santarém. It is already late and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the Amazon River.
